UHSM NHS FT R&D only use NIHR CSP for issuing NHS permission for NIHR Portfolio studies from 1st April 2009

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Coordinated System for gaining NHS Permission (CSP) is a new system that standardises and streamlines the process for gaining NHS permission for clinical research studies in England. NIHR CSP went live for NIHR Portfolio studies on 18 November 2008.

Initially NIHR CSP went live in a transition phase to allow NHS organisations hosting research to become familiar with the system. This transition phase will end on 31 March 2009 and from this date UHSM NHS FT R&D exclusively use only NIHR CSP for issuing NHS permission for NIHR Portfolio studies.

Please also note that from 1st April 2009, IRAS will also be the only way in which to submit applications to NHS Research Ethics Committees.
