National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre website launched

Dear Colleagues

A new National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre website has been launched today at www.crncc.nihr.ac.uk

The new website incorporates the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) identity and a new website address which clearly distinguishes the NIHR Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre as part of the NIHR family.

The launch follows the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre’s (NIHR CRN CC) name and identity change towards the end of 2008. Formerly known as the UK Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre (UKCRN CC), the NIHR CRN CC changed its name to reflect the fact that the majority of funding comes from the Department of Health – England through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to coordinate the NIHR Clinical Research Networks in England.

The NIHR CRN CC will continue to oversee the development and functioning of the NIHR Clinical Research Networks in cancer, diabetes, dementia and neurodegenerative diseases, medicines for children, mental health and stroke, together with the primary care and Comprehensive Clinical Research Networks in England and to facilitate joint UK wide working in the UK Clinical Research Networks.

The new website replaces the previous UKCRN CC website but will retain most of the content, functionality and navigational features. Work will continue to take place to fully update the website over the coming months in relation to this change. The UKCRN website address (www.crncc.nihr.ac.uk) will remain active during this time to ensure the website remains accessible to all potential visitors.
