Carrying out Research

All research in the Trust must be carried out in accordance with the Department of Health's Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care. This sets out standards and responsibilities for all research which relates to the responsibilities of the Secretary of State for Health and includes clinical and non-clinical research, research undertaken by NHS staff using NHS resources and research undertaken by industry, charities, research councils and universities within the health care system.

Research must not commence without management approval - follow the links to the left for information on gaining ethical and R&D approval for your study.

The RGF states that every study must have a nominated sponsor - see our SOP on Allocation of sponsorship for further information - and please contact us at the early stages of your project to confirm that we would be happy to sponsor your study.
